It’s winter in the hot country of Thailand, the perfect time to experience the enchanting ‘Khao Yai Jungle Trails.’

Discover the beautiful flora and fauna of Khao Yai National Park aboard a local Songthaew. As the second-largest park in Thailand, spanning 2,168 sq km, it holds the distinction of being the country’s first national park, established on September 18, 1962. This park has a lot to offer, from wildlife such as elephants, gibbons, monkeys, deer, Komodo dragons, and hornbills to waterfalls and scenic viewpoints. Khao Yai National Park is located 400 meters above sea level, so during the tour, you will embark on an adventurous journey uphill. Along the way, be sure to look around, as there are wild animals to spot everywhere.

The trees in Khao Yai are exceptionally tall, making it difficult to spot all the animals with the naked eye. Fortunately, our tour guide is well-equipped with the necessary gear to observe animals high up in the trees, such as gibbons, hornbills, and squirrels with tails as long as a meter. Some trees can be up to 400 years old. If you look closely, you can see traces of bear claws in the bark. But don’t worry; wild bears only come out at night.

During the jungle hike, it’s important to look around carefully. On the ground and among the plants, you’ll encounter numerous other animals, such as small snakes and spiders as large as your hand. After a morning filled with wildlife spotting, take a break for a nice cup of coffee or smoothie, but be cautious with your belongings as the monkeys are interested in them.

Khao Yai National Park not only has many species of animals but also features breathtaking natural beauty. Drive a bit further up and make a stop at a fantastic viewpoint. Stand at the edge of a cliff, with your feet overlooking the stunning untouched jungle. Then, descend to witness the magnificent Haew Su Wat Waterfall. From a certain angle, you’ll see a rainbow appearing in the waterfall while monkeys climb over the rocks in the background.

When it starts to dusk, there is a good chance of spotting wild elephants that might come to the salt licks. There is also a chance that they will cross the road, but this requires patience and silence. However, it is worth it because once they emerge from the forests, you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of these magnificent creatures.

Our experience, ‘Khao Yai Jungle Trails,’ stands out as one of the best tours for those seeking to immerse themselves in natural beauty not far from Bangkok.
