Walt Disney World Vacation- Where Should You Start?
By Betsey Rhames

Walt Disney World is a very big place. There are four major theme
parks plus two water parks and many other smaller attractions to
enjoy. So, when you are planning a trip to Disney World, you may
wonder, “What is the best order to visit each park?” There are two
different theories you can use to make this decision:

1. Save the best for last. Which means you should start with the park
you would enjoy the least and then work your way up to your favorite.
Or

2. Avoid the biggest crowds. This means you find out where everyone
else is going and pick a different park.

Each method has its advantages. Saving the best for last is the most
emotionally satisfying vacation. Often when people choose the Magic
Kingdom first, they are disappointed at the next park they attend.
However, visiting the four major parks in order of preference
guarantees that each day is better than the last. If you have never
been to Disney World before, you may wish to familiarize yourself with
each park so you can choose the best order for your family. Generally,
the best order for first timers with children would be: 1. Epcot,

2. Animal Kingdom,

3. MGM Studios, and

4. Magic Kingdom.

As a side note, this would not be the right sequence for my family; it’s
definitely a personal decision but you can’t go wrong saving the
Magic Kingdom for last.

Using the method of avoiding the crowds will reduce the stress in
your vacation especially if you are bothered by waiting in long lines.
Unfortunately, picking the least crowded park is not an exact science.
The best advice we can give you is do not visit the park with morning
Extra Magic Hours. On these days, Disney resort guests are allowed
early entrance to one of the parks and it tends to be more crowded. If
you are staying at a WDW resort and want to take advantage of Extra
Magic Hours, go ahead. Just stay a short while and when it begins to
get crowded, head for another park (you will need the “park hopper”
option on your ticket). You can find out which parks are open for
morning Extra Hours on Walt Disney World’s official web site. Click
on the “park hours” in the “Plan and Prepare” box this will bring you to
a calendar. Next click on any “Extra Magic Hours” and a schedule will
appear for the upcoming months. Or use the link below. Read
carefully; some extra hours are in the evening. You only need to avoid
the parks with morning Extra Magic Hours.

Whether you choose to “save the best for last” or “avoid the biggest
crowds”, you are sure to enjoy your vacation to Disney World. With
planning and preparation, your family will create some lifetime
memories.
