Disney World Vacation - 5 Magic Ways to Save Time
by Alison Meacham
We all know the phrase 'Time is Money' and this can be
applied to your Walt Disney World vacation. Getting the
best value on your visit is not just about finding the best
ticket deals - who cares if you got a discounted rate, but
didn't get on the rides you wanted?
1. Planning. A little planning goes a long way. Get a good
guide book to decide before you arrive what you may be
most interested in seeing. You may want to skip Dumbo but
can't resist Pirates of the Caribbean!
2. Eating. Do you want to spend time eating, or just eat on
the run? There are some great restaurants in Disney
World. It is getting even more important to make advanced
dining reservations for restaurants in the parks and hotels.
Call 407-WDW-DINE up to 180 days in advance. Some
dining venues are extremely popular, such as Cinderella's
Royal Table, Royal Table Character Breakfast-it sells out
within minutes each day when reservations open at 7am
EST
Make sure you have a note of your reservation number,
and also remember to cancel in time if you have given a
credit card guarantee
3. The Fast Pass. One of the easiest and best ways to save
time and see more attractions is to use the Fast Pass
System. This is free and easy to use, and will allow you to
bypass the regular line, and go to the much quicker Fast
Pass line. You will see Fast Pass machines outside the
entrance to many of the attractions. There is a time return
above the machines - which shows a 'window' of one hour.
This is the time for which the machines are currently issuing
the Fast Pass. There are restrictions though as to when
you can pick up the next Fast Pass - follow the instructions
on your Fast Pass ticket which will tell you when you can get
the next one.
4. Child Swap. On many attractions there are height
restrictions. This means that if you have babies or young
children in your party, one of you is going to have to look
after the baby whilst the other rides on the attraction. To
save you from having to stand in line twice, Disney has a
Child Swap system. You simply ask the Cast Member at the
start of the line if a swap is available and they will give you a
Child Swap pass. The first family member then stands in
line and experiences the attraction. The second family
member then gives the swap ticket to the cast member and
does not have to stand in line again.
5. Timing is important. Arrive early, around 30 to 45 minutes
before the park is scheduled to open and you will be among
the first people to be in the park.
Enjoy your visit to Disney World!
