Vancouver, located on the mainland of North America in
southwest British Columbia, was voted the "Best City in the
Americas" for 2004 by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. The area
has is rich in natural beauty with mountains, rainforests and the
ocean. Greater Vancouver, made up of 18 municipalities around
the Fraser River Delta has many sights and attractions to offer.

Vancouver Lookout - The spectacular 360° view from the
Vancouver Lookout is your best first stop in Vancouver. Harbour
Centre Tower is Vancouver and British Columbia's tallest building
at a height of 581 feet! The ascent to The Lookout is reached via a
glass doored elevator in less than 50 seconds. Don’t miss the
Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant.
Chinatown – Visit Chinatown. The architectural style is unique
because the buildings are inspired by Canton architecture. Be
sure to see the Sam Kee Building, which has been recognized by
"Ripley's Believe It or Not" to be the narrowest building in the
world.
False Creek - Wonderful restaurants and waterfront
condominiums and the fabulous markets, marinas and shops of
Granville Island. Take a short walk to Granville Island and its
famous public market or take a ferry across the creek and explore
the other side of False Creek known as Yaletown.
Granville Island – There are few residents here on the Island. The
Public Market is the place to purchase food. The "Kids Only
Market" sells toys, dolls, chemistry sets, and other things for
children. Granville Island is known for its public markets, fresh
bakeries and unique stores.
Stanley Park – In the heart of the city, Stanley Park is one of the
largest urban parks in North America, with 400 hectares (1000
acres) of woodlands, gardens, flowers, trails, lakes, beaches and
wildlife. Home to the Vancouver Aquarium and a children's
farmyard - tennis courts and putt golf course.
Point Grey – Plenty of parks, green spaces and picturesque
streets of "fairy tale" homes lined with Oak and Fir. Point Grey is
the loveliest community in the city of Vancouver with its yacht
clubs, breathtaking views and quaint shops.
Capilano River - Runs from the base of Grouse Mountain down
through North Vancouver into the Pacific by the Park Royal
shopping centre, Ambleside Park and underneath the Lions Gate
Bridge. Along the river there are many outstanding walking and
hiking paths.
Whale Watching - Located on the Pacific Coast, the Vancouver
area is home for many local Orca whales. Other types of whales
also can be seen here. Whale watching occurs throughout the
year. Also there is an opportunity to view whales, dolphins, sea
lions, seals and eagles as boats tour the coast of Vancouver.
Rock Climbing - The surrounding mountains of the Vancouver
area is great for rock-climbing. The mountains offer unlimited
opportunities for climbers of all levels. In Squamish, the Chief is
an experienced rock climber's dream.
Olympic City - The International Olympic Committee selected
Vancouver as the Host City for the XXI Winter Games. Athletes
and spectators from around the world will gather in Vancouver
and Whistler in 2010 to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games.
Grouse Mountain - Home to Vancouver's many winter sports and
games. Grouse Mountain offers extensive night skiing,
restaurants, and bars. The cable car ride is fun as well as the

Capilano Suspension Bridge - Located 10 minutes from
downtown Vancouver, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of
Vancouver's most popular tourist attractions. It is 450 feet across
and 230 feet above Capilano River the world's greatest
suspension footbridge! You walk 70 meters (more than 200 feet)
above the yawning chasm of the Capilano River on a 450-foot
bridge. There are photo stops, a souvenir shop, teahouse, native
carving displays, etc. The sheer granite cliffs of the Capilano
Canyon were carved out more than a hundred centuries ago by
natural water courses left behind by glacial action.
