REVIEW OF PETER THE GREAT TOUR IN ST LUCIA
By Paula Hughes Court, Editor, Family Travel Fun.Com

We visited St Lucia while doing a Southern Caribbean cruise on
Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas. We were lucky to have
Peter the Great personally guiding our tour with his brother,
Stanley, driving the boat.

Peter is funny, full of energy and a great person to be with for the
day. We booked the tour online at exortictours.com and received a
definite time to leave the dock at 10:00 am. The boat dock is
conveniently located mere steps from the ship so we didn't have to
catch a cab to take us to another destination.

MARIGOT BAY
At 10 a.m. we loaded the boat, which was full by this time and took
off. The tour along the coastline is beautiful and well worth the
money. Along the way, we stopped at Marigot Bay, the film site of
the original Dr. Doolittle movie. Peter pulled the boat in close to
the cliffs so we could take photos of a bat cave teeming with
sleepy bats before heading on up the coastline to see the Pitons.

THE PITONS
The Pitons are a glorious site to see. We cruised in close to the
twin peaks while Peter gave us ample time to take as many
pictures as we wanted to. In Soufriere, we loaded into vans
(unairconditioned so be forewarned) and headed to the volcano
and sulfur springs.

ST LUCIA VOLCANO AND SULPHUR SPRINGS
The active volcano and steaming hot sulphur springs were an
interesting sight though many visitors seemed to be having trouble
with the smell. Be careful and test the water first if you want to step
into the stream beside the volcano. While the water appears to be
a cold and refreshing, the temperature is actually about 100
degrees.

ST LUCIA WATERFALL
After visiting the volcano, we drove a short distance to a waterfall
for a short swim. The waterfall is a popular spot since almost every
tour of St Lucia ends up there at some point. If you have extra
time, there are several vendors set up outside the waterfalls along
the road selling inexpensive meals to go, such as fish sandwiches
and fried bread. My husband managed to eat at least three
different lunches of fresh fish, mangoes, exotic fruits and fried
bread before we could drag him back to the van.

ANSE CHASTANET
The vans took us back to the boat where Peter quickly handed out
a cooler full of beer, soft drinks, water and rum punch. The last
stop on our tour was an hour long beach break at Anse
Chastanet, one of the most gorgeous beaches in St Lucia and
home to the luxury Anse Chastanet hotel.

The beach offered an opportunity to snorkel as well as swim in
clear blue water. Peter joined in with the fun, doing back flips off
the boat, and even spent extra time trying to teach my daughter to
snorkel.

PETER THE GREAT TOUR REVIEW
We felt the tour was well worth the $50 per person and so much
better than spending the day in a van going around curvy roads.
My husband said it was his favorite excursion of the cruise out of
four total, including the very expensive Eli's ecotour in Antigua.

The key seems to be Peter. If he is on the boat you'll be
guaranteed to have a wonderful time.
