ENTERTAINMENT ON RADISSON SEVEN SEAS
NAVIGATOR

Radisson Seven Seas Cruises spares no expense on entertainment
and it shows in the details, from the $80,000 glittery show curtain to the
$1,000 costumes worn by the dancers. Live entertainment was provided
by the energetic cast of the Peter Grey Terhune Singers and Dancers in
the Seven Seas Show Lounge. Most shows began at 9:45 pm. The
shows included a wide variety of styles, such as Fiesta Latina, Tonight
on Broadway, and Rock This Town.

My appreciation for these talented young entertainers grew even more
after visiting their hot and crowded backstage dressing rooms on a tour
given for Junior Cruisers. The dancers were kind enough to allow my
eight-year-old daughter try on the Diana Ross wig and high heels used
by the young man in Rock This Town.

Other entertainment included international vocalist Holly Lipton and a
remarkable performance of popular classics by Virtuoso Concert Pianist
Nana Mukhadze. Pianist Kenneth Johnson played daily in the Navigator
Lounge.  The Navigator Five Orchestra provided dance music most
nights in the Seven Seas Lounge before and after the show. Guitarist
Franco Lillo serenaded diners in the Portofino Grill.

SPECIAL ENRICHMENT LECTURES:
Onboard lectures on Bermuda were given by Lt. Col. Brendan O’D.
Hollis, a sixth generation Bermudian and former commanding officer of
the Bermuda Regiment. Hollis is regarded as one of Bermuda’s
leading historians and his lectures were one of the highlights of the
cruise.

SPECIAL SHIP TOURS:
BRIDGE TOUR
: Radisson is one of the rare cruise lines still allowing
tours of the bridge. Almost all lines have cancelled these tours for
security reasons. The bridge is a truly impressive sight, especially for
first-time cruisers. Taking the tour is simply a matter of signing up and
appearing at a designated time. Note: No cameras are allowed.

GALLEY TOUR WITH RADISSON NAVIGATOR EXECUTIVE CHEF MIKE
ROMHILD
: Having been on several cruise galley tours, I expected to see
the usual stacks of pre-prepared meals in the kitchen. Not so on
Radisson. Of course, I should have known better considering the
excellent quality of the food. Each entrée is cooked to order, not 12
hours before and re-heated. To say the difference between meals on
Radisson and other cruise lines is miles apart is a great
understatement.

I also noticed another interesting item-a room service alarm light in the
middle of the galley. The procedure works like this…when a guest calls
room service, the revolving yellow alarm light goes off alerting everyone
in the galley that someone is hungry. Whomever is free at the moment
goes to answer the phone and take care of the order. As you can
imagine the alarm light went off several times during the 20-minute tour.

BACKSTAGE TOUR-This tour was offered to junior cruisers only, but I
was lucky enough to tag along with my eight-year-old daughter. After
seeing the tightly crowded and stuffy dressing rooms, I can’t imagine
how the Peter Grey Terhune singers and dancers get through their
performances, especially on a swaying ship. This is a great tour for
young cruisers and the entertainers go out of their way being nice to the
children.
