If you’re looking for a budget hotel inside the Walt Disney World resort,
Pop Century Resort is the perfect choice. At an average rate of $99 per
night, Pop Century offers a great value for your money. With the exception
of a formal sit-down restaurant and fancy water slides at the pools, Pop
Century offers just about all the amenities you’ll find at the more
expensive Orlando luxury resorts.
Pop Century Resort features four-story-tall replicas of popular toys and
fads from the past five decades. Children will love the giant Duncan Yo-
Yos, Big Wheel, Foos Ball Men, Play-Doh can, and glowing Rubik’s Cube.
Pop Century Resort also features building size models of the popular
Disney characters Mowgli and Baloo, Lady and the Tramp, and of course,
Mickey Mouse.
POP CENTURY RESORT POOLS
The activities at Pop Century Resort center around the huge 60’s themed
“Hippy-Dippy” swimming pool, staffed with an extremely diligent group of
life guards. The pool area offers plenty of lounge chairs and was never
crowded on a recent visit though the hotel was filled to capacity. The 90’s
building has its own smaller computer shaped pool while the bowling pin
shaped pool is in the 50’s area. The dancing fountains near the 70’s
building was a huge hit for children of all ages.
POP CENTURY GUEST ROOMS
The guest rooms at Pop Century Resort are clean and amply furnished
with soap, towels and shampoo. The rooms do not contain hair dryers so
bring one along. The room amenities include a safe, ironing board and
iron.
DINING AT POP CENTURY RESORT
Pop Century Resort offers a large food-court style dining area, featuring a
variety of familiar American favorites from slow-cooked pot roast and
oversized cinnamon buns to hamburgers, hotdogs, and pizza. The Ethnic
Show Kitchen serves up wraps, flatbreads and Asian dishes. For
breakfast, choices range from bacon and eggs to Mickey shaped waffles,
pancakes and bagels. Quick bites such as ready-made sandwiches and
salads are always available in the Grab-n-Go coolers. Don't miss the
peanut butter fluff sandwiches, Chef Foundoukis's Famous Buttermilk
Fried Chicken or the tie-dyed red velvet cake.

DISNEY TRANSPORTATION
If you’re staying at Pop Century Resort, use Disney transportation to travel
to the theme parks and Downtown Disney. I was very impressed with the
efficiency of the Disney transportation system. There are individual bus
stops at the entrance to the hotel marked Magical Express, Epcot, MGM
Studios, Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney, and Animal Kingdom-
Blizzard Beach. Simply queue up and wait for your bus, which rarely takes
longer than 10 minutes. The buses usually go straight to your destination
without stopping.
DISNEY’S MAGICAL EXPRESS
Magical Express is the best thing Disney has come up with in a long time.
If you’ve ever waited in an hour-long line for a rental car at the Orlando
airport, you’ll doubly appreciate this new service. Any guest staying at a
Walt Disney World resort hotel can use Magical Express. Simply make
your Magical Express reservation when you reserve your room or call the
Magical Express line directly at 1-866-599-0951 with your flight
information. Magical Express will mail you luggage tags for your bags.
Once you arrive at the airport, simply go downstairs and check in. Minutes
later, you’ll be loaded onto coach buses and transported to your hotel.
Note: Your checked bags will arrive much later, probably four to five hours.
Be sure to take a carry-on bag with whatever you’ll need in that length of
time. For your return to the airport, you’ll receive a voucher at your hotel
room with the departure time of your bus. Simply show up with your bags
fifteen minutes before departure and the bus will deliver you to the airport.
