MARTHA'S VINEYARD

Martha's Vineyard is a picturesque New England island with captains'
houses, lighthouses, white picket fences, ice-cream shops, fishing village,
rolling farmland and miles of pristine beaches.

The 20 mile long island of Martha's Vineyard is noted for its varied
geological landscape and the individual character of its towns and
residents. Summer population jumps from its usual 10,000 to more than
85,000.  May or October, when the weather is mild, and the island less
crowded, is a better time to capture the relaxed atmosphere of Martha’s
Vineyard. Over the years, Martha's Vineyard has attracted the rich and
famous including many of the Kennedy family as both residents and
vacationers.

How to get to Martha’s Vineyard
Martha's Vineyard is located within 85 miles from two major airports:
Boston (Logan International Airport) and Providence, Rhode Island (T.F.
Green Airport). Visitors arriving at either of these two cities can arrange for
transportation to Martha's Vineyard via connecting air service, bus, or by
renting a car. Travel to the island is by boat or by air. Leave your car behind.
Cabs are plentiful and greet the incoming ferries to help you reach your
destination. A good way to explore the island is on a bicycle, scooter or
public bus.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD ACCOMMODATIONS
Martha’s Vineyard offers a wide variety of places to lodge - from simple to
elegant, from bed and breakfasts to historic inns. There are campgrounds
or hostels for the more adventurous. Places to dine vary from elegant and
expensive to simple family restaurants with fresh seafood always available.

Oak Bluffs has a carousel, an arcade and an easy walk to the beach, plus
the history and charm of the "gingerbread" houses in the Methodist
campgrounds. Martha’s Vineyard offers golfing, sailing, art galleries,
antique shops, bicycling, fishing, bird watching, kayaking, tennis, concerts
and theatres.

The three towns that compose Down-Island - Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs,

you'll find the ferry docks, shops, and a concentration of things to do and
see.
