FAMILY FUN AT KA‘ANAPALI BEACH HOTEL’S
“ALOHA PASSPORT FOR KIDS” PROGRAM
Ka‘anapali Beach Hotel’s complimentary children’s program,
“Aloha Passport for Kids,” is ideal for families traveling to Maui’s
Most Hawaiian Hotel.
The program began in June of 1999 and has hosted over 2,500
children. Already a favorite, the fun begins as each child receives a
passport to “Destinations” highlighting the hotel’s beachfront
setting and its reputation as the islands’ most Hawaiian hotel. In
2003, the program was enhanced to provide a personalized
experience for children of various age groups. Now, children 6-12
years of age can experience 12 destinations, and 3-5 year-olds
have an eight-destination passport with activities that are geared
toward the younger child.
At each destination, their passport is stamped with a meaningful
Hawaiian word and the child receives a gift to play with while
staying at the hotel and as a memento of their visit. Infants to 2 year-
olds receive a passport card with their personalized Hawaiian
name and a baby bucket full of goodies.
“Our guests vacation with their children because they want to create
wonderful memories with them,” said Lori Sablas, Director of Po
‘okela. “In many homes, both parents work, so vacation time is
precious time to spend together. Our program provides fun
activities for entire families as well as opportunities to learn
Hawaiian culture.”
“Perpetuating the Hawaiian culture has always been our priority,”
says Mike White, General Manager of the hotel. “Through the ‘Aloha
Passport for Kids’ program children can learn about our rich island
heritage in a fun and interactive way.” Days begin with activities
including hula classes, flower lei making, sand image class
(casting in plaster of Paris so the item can be taken home), cultural
garden walks throughout the hotel’s eleven lush tropical acres, and
lau (leaf) printing. Parents join in on the fun and attend
demonstrations to learn how Hawaiians make and use hula
implements such as ipu (gourds) and pū ‘ili (split bamboo), how to
make ti leaf skirts like the ones hula dancers wear, and how to cut a
pineapple into decorative and delicious treats.
Families love the “Aloha Passport for Kids” added value at the hotel’
s food and beverage outlets, where children five and under eat all
meals free and those six to twelve years old can order from a
special discounted children’s menu when accompanied by a
paying adult. Children also receive a stamp in their Aloha Passport
and goodies at the hotel’s various food and beverage outlets.
Moms and Dads are glad to hear that feeding their family at Kā
‘anapali Beach Hotel will be affordable and fun.
At Ka‘anapali Beach Hotel, children 17 and under stay free with
parents when using the existing bedding, and guest rooms sleep
up to four people. Rooms with connecting doors make traveling
easy for larger families. Awarded “Hawai‘i’s Most Hawaiian Hotel,”
the 430-room Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel combines a charming
Hawaiian atmosphere with an ideal ocean front location and the
best value in the world-famous Kā‘anapali Resort.
